Mold in Your AC

If you turn on your AC for the first time in months and you’re greeted by a damp, musty smell, your AC has mold in it. Mold spores float in the air, and they can be pulled into the AC system through the air intake. Once inside the AC system, mold spores will cluster around a damp section of the AC ducts. Through the winter, your AC is never used, which allows the mold to thrive.

Mold is relatively easy to remove. Our technicians will pump a strong anti-mold solution into your AC and run the system. This spreads the cleaning solution throughout the AC and will clear out all the accumulated mold. Once this process is complete, we’ll remove the air filter and replace it with a new one. The air filter is a popular breeding ground for mold.

Blocked drainage pipe

Your AC produces water as part of the cooling process. This water is accumulated and then disposed of via the drainage pipe. The drainage pipe in the AC is responsible for the pools of water you see underneath cars in the summer.

The drainage pipe runs through the floor of your car just in front of the passenger seating section. This pipe can become blocked over time, and a blockage will prevent water from exiting your car. Water produced by the AC system will fill up the evaporator tank and overflow onto the carpet on the passenger side. Our technicians can fix this problem by unblocking or replacing the pipe and cleaning the carpet.

Damaged Cooling Fan

Your AC may be working perfectly, and you can hear the compressor clutch switch on and off as it cycles. You don’t, however, have cold air blowing into the cabin. In this situation, the most likely cause of the problem is a damaged cooling fan. The cooling fan is responsible for blowing cold air from the AC into your cabin.

The fan can fail for various reasons, including age, damage to the blades, or even a blown fuse. Our technicians will examine the fan and quickly fix the problem,
