Staffed by the Cokato Historical Society, the Cokato Museum preserves and showcases the proud history of this community, which goes back to its founding in 1869. The museum is home to exhibits chronicling the story of several local establishments, including the Cokato Fire Department and Cokato High School. There’s also an exhibit about Jerry Knapp’s Elite Auto Sports, which features examples of the company’s fiberglass sports car kits.
Throughout the year, Cokato Museum hosts events like the Cokato Corn Festival, Memorial Day Open House, and children’s scavenger hunts.
2. Crow River Winery
Since its founding in 2004, the Crow River Winery has sustainably produced fine wine that uses cold climate grapes of the highest quality. Visitors can take tours of its five beautiful vineyards, and then head over to the tasting room and courtyard. While there, the winery’s experienced sommeliers will guide tasting based on your preferences. Featuring local ingredients, artisan pizzas and sandwiches are offered within the winery’s bistro.

3. Lakewood Farm and Campground
Heading over to this lovely campground is the perfect excuse to load up the kids and your camping supplies into the spacious interior of your Ford Expedition. 4. Forest City Stockade
This historic stockade was restored in 1976 and pays tribute to the pioneers and Native Americans who faced violence during the Sioux Indian Uprising of 1862. Visitors will get a glimpse of what life was like over 150 years ago as they tour the stockade’s log walls and buildings. There’s also a two-story museum that displays numerous artifacts from the pioneer era. Enhancing the experience are tour guides and volunteers dressed in 1860s clothing.
The annual Summer Rendezvous and Pioneer Christmas events feature entertaining historical reenactments and fun, kid-friendly activities. Make sure to sample the various traditional foods and homemade ice cream offered at the stockade!
