The Ford Ranger has been one of the most popular mid-size pickup trucks on the market for many years, and the 2022 Ford Ranger promises to double down on this reputation in a big way! We’re excited about a lot of the great new features and packages available with the new Ranger, so we figured we’d put this quick guide together to introduce you to what’s new and excited at each of the trim levels of the new 2022 Ranger. Enjoy!
Ranger XL
The base trim of the 2022 Ranger, the XL, comes with the powertrain which is standard across each of the Ranger’s trim levels: a 270 horsepower 2.3L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, which comes paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Like each of the other Ranger trims, the XL is standard with rear-wheel drive but comes with the option of upgrading to 4-wheel drive.
In terms of features, the XL comes pretty well stocked. It rides on 16-inch steel wheels, has trailer sway control, a locking tailgate, air condition, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and the option to upgrade to a crew cab. The XL sports onboard Bluetooth capability, a WiFi hotspot, and a USB port for charging your devices. All-in-all, the XL is a well-rounded and well-stocked foundation trim for the Ranger!
Ranger XLT
To kick things up a notch, drivers can opt for the Ranger XLT, the next trim level up from the XL. The XLT runs on the same powertrain as the XL but adds plenty of exciting features. These include 17-inch painted aluminum wheels, a rear window defroster, cruise control, dual-zone climate control, LED taillights, and remote keyless entry.
Inside, the XLT upgrades the infotainment system to an 8-inch touchscreen with satellite radio capability and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration. The XLT also opens up the option of a couple different packages to add on, including the eye-catching Splash Package and, for those with the crew cab version of the XLT, the off-road-ready Tremor package, which includes off-road suspension, Trail Control, skid plates, electronic locking rear differential, and more.
Ranger Lariat
Finally, the top of the charts as far as Ranger trim levels go, the Lariat ups the ante yet again, with 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and fog lights, and heated power outdoor mirrors. Inside, your ride will be more luxurious than ever with the leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather-trimmed heated seats, keyless entry with a push start button, and rear parking assist.
Those buying the Lariat still have access to the Splash and Tremor packages mentioned above, but also benefit from the optional Equipment Group 501A High, which adds a 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system, navigation, rain-sensing wipers, adaptive cruise control, and more.
With so many options to choose from to personalize your driving experience, you can rest assured there’s a Ranger that fits your driving needs.
